Oh yeah, they were a lot like that actually. Creepily subtle!
Hey, I´m here to collect my well deserved spanking. I mean to say that I forgot that the episode is on right now!
But it´s no tragedy, it will get repeated later and be put on On Demand (though I´m not quite sure when exactly, might be after the episode is over now or after the repeat later in the night).
What that means is that my commentary on the episode will have to be delayed a bit, that´s all.
Never mind, watching the on the demand stream now!
Iâm sorry, you⌠you did what?
Edit: oh youâre watching it now. Okay. Vomit retracted.
EwwâŚ
A Darin Morgan episode, yay!
Loving all those Twilight Zone tributes!
Yeah! I watched that one the same night I started watching the Twilight Zone - it was so weird.
What an enjoyable episode! And the best way they could handle the topic. A hilarious send up of conspiracy whack theories, fake news, alternative facts and all that nonsense.
It wasn´t quite as original as the Were Monster Episode of last season, or as absurd as Clyde Bruckman(which was even featured here). Tonally, especially in some clips I´d say it might be closest to Jose Chung´s from Outer Space(especially the story part where they âmeetâ with the alien at the end).
Highlights include all the subtle and not so subtle Trump references, âLittle Mulderâ in front of the TV, the Forest Gump-ish editing moments, a swap shop with a Richard Nixon Poster in the backround that says âYou can´t lick our Dickâ in the backround and my personal favourite that montage scene of Reggies work history going from post office, over casually waterboarding someone (still in the same cubicle!), having a consequential mishap with his attack drone handling and eavesdropping on a classic Mulder and Scully dialogue. Also of course the fake Twilight Zone episode that uses several small elements of actual episodes(won´t say which to avoid spoilers obviously).
Classic Darin Morgan penned episode I would say. Greatly enjoyed it and the best way to handle a concept as stupid and ignorant as The Mandela Effect (on which I might rant later) but the way they did was really enjoyable.
Iâm glad youâve watched that one now (I reviewed it up there somewhere). I liked it (especially some of the bits you mentioned), but just thought it was a bit over-the-top. It was so silly that the storyline got a bit swamped by all the jokes and references.
Itâs similar, but I found those old comedy episodes much subtler and more sophisticated in the humour they used.
I donât know, I need to watch it again really. It was good, just not very âX-Filesâ for me.
I think the messy way in which it was delivered was kind of the point, because it reflected the convoluted nature of the subject matter in that way, It´s best summed up in that scene was Mulder admits to haven gotten totally lost in his blackboard drawings. So it was satirical in a way.
But I agree that they tonally go a bit overboard but that might be due to the whole season generally beeing more loose even in the more serious episodes.
I don´t believe they will ever again deliver a monster as scary as the one from The Host.
Episode 5 any good? Donât need to lie because itâs my birthday.
I thought it was okay. I think I was easily distracted during it which is happening with some of the later episodes. They donât keep my attention as much.
I wouldnât lie as getting your hopes up on your birthday would be worse!
Uhm what was episode 5 title?
Ghouli.
Quite good, a typical X-Files episode.
So this has been another weird mixture. It seemed to be a standalone MOW episode first that looked a bit like it was partially inspired by the 2014 âSlender Manâ stabbing. But then it turned into a mythology episode again with the smoker appearing and all the usual stuff with William (whose story arc is so big now that it seems to be there to replace the whole main motivation of Mulder searching for his abducted sister in the original series now) alien/human hybrid DNA including an extended scene of Mulder and Skinner awkwardly throwing expositional dialogue at each other on the crime scene of that rusty ship.
I don´t know about this one, really. The part I found most interesting was what was connected with the phenomenon of âsleep paralysisâ which is a real and seemingly most disturbing thing for those who suffer from it. There is a creepy documentary on netflix on the subject in case you´re interested.
Five more two go here, while it all ended yesterday in the US with a finale that has gotten really really bad reviews so far as I could see and the ratings in germany aren´t anything to write home about either.
Might as well be for the better that the end is neigh.
Yeah, I agree, it was a bit all over the place. I feel like the series started off good and then went a bit meh. But it might just be that Iâm getting bored of it and more interested in other stuff (like The Americans, which Iâm really enjoying).
Really? Iâve been keeping away from any mentions for fear of spoilers. I guess thereâs nothing redeeming in the finale then, sigh.
Once again Iâm trying not to pick out typos but that oneâs just too funny
Hm, Netflix couldnât find the page.
Somehow I feel that the day you will finally appear in one of my dreams it will involve you constantly hitting me over the head with the Oxford DictionaryâŚ

Nein. Maybe just not in UK. Whatâs it called?
Too late my friend, too late.
